About Us
Who We Are
It started simply with a desire to eat differently and a search for proteins that didn't come from animals.
In 2014, we opened 57Cals, a tiny vegan restaurant in Laval. We were the only one of our kind in the city at the time. Our menu was built around falafel and since each of our hand-crafted falafel balls came in at exactly 57 calories, the name felt right. What started as a personal experiment quickly became a community.
As the years went on, we realized our mission was bigger than a single restaurant. We wanted simple, delicious, plant-based food to be within reach for everyone and not just the people who could stop by for lunch. So we made a bold decision: we closed our doors, partnered with grocery stores and health food shops across Greater Montreal, and brought our products directly to people's kitchens. We became 57Végane, and today we're distributed throughout Quebec.
Every product we make is fully plant-based, crafted with natural ingredients, and designed for real life. Our wraps are hand-rolled fresh every day. Our proteins are pre-cooked so they work hot or cold, in your recipes or straight out of the package. We think eating well shouldn't slow you down.
And now, Oudélic.
Oudélic is the next chapter; our line of marinated plant-based proteins born from everything we've learned over the past decade. The name comes from ուտելիք (oudelik), the Armenian word for food and nourishment, woven together with the French délice — delight, pleasure, something you linger over. To us, that dialogue between roots and where you land is exactly what plant-based eating deserves: food that carries meaning, and food that makes you smile.
Behind it all, we are Sylva and Tamar, a mother and daughter who started this adventure together at the kitchen table, and haven't stopped since. This is our life's work and we're proud to share it with you.
